FTC for 6 months based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital
Role DescriptionClinical time working on the 24 hour SHO rota, under Consultant or Registrar supervision, taking responsibility for the initial assessment and management of attending patients. You will work closely with other members of the Emergency Department multi-disciplinary team and inpatient specialties. Opportunities to attend weekly departmental teaching and simulation.
Flexible working patterns will be considered for all applicants.

This is a fixed term position and is well suited to an individual that is looking to gain exposure to the NHS plus gain hands‑on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.

Person specificationProfessional Qualifications Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with GMC
- Postgraduate diploma in relevant subject
- MRCEM / MRCP or equivalent
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Minimum of 2 years postgraduate clinical experience
- Minimum of 4 months with Emergency Medicine
- Evidence of achievement of foundation competencies (or equivalent) by time of appointment
- Evidence of experience in other specialties relevant to Emergency Medicine
- NHS Experience
- Competent in clinical assessment and management of acutely ill or injured patients
- Good level or oral and written communication skills
- Has insight into limits of clinical competence and seeks timely assistance from senior colleagues
- Ability to work within a team
- Life support provider (ALS, ATLS, APLS or equivalent)
- Experience in various procedural skills relevant to Emergency Medicine such as manipulation of fractures or dislocations, insertion of chest drains etc.
- Attends and actively participates in departmental teaching and training
- Evidence of educational activity
- Interest and participation in research
- GCP certification
