SEND Learning Support Guide Basingstoke
Prospero Teaching is looking for a committed and nurturing SEND Learning Support Guide to join a welcoming school in Basingstoke. This long‑term role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs through focused 1:1 work and structured small group sessions, helping them engage with learning and succeed in a supportive environment.
The school is seeking someone who is calm, patient, and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide tailored support that encourages confidence, independence, and emotional well‑being.
This role is ideal for those with previous SEND experience, individuals looking to build a career within education, or graduates keen to develop hands‑on experience supporting children with diverse needs.
The Role- Provide day‑to‑day 1:1 support for pupils with SEND
- Assist or lead small‑group interventions to build core skills
- Help pupils regulate emotions and maintain engagement
- Adapt resources and activities to match individual needs
- Offer encouragement, reassurance, and consistency throughout the day
- Follow personalised strategies and SEND plans set by school staff
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and support teams
- Experience supporting children with SEND, such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or communication needs
- Patient, empathetic, and confident working with diverse learners
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Able to support both structured learning and social/emotional development
- A positive role model with a passion for inclusive education
- Graduates (psychology, childhood studies, education, health & social care) encouraged to apply

- Hours:
Full‑time, term‑time - Pay: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
- Duration:
Long‑term/ongoing
- Experience with SEND or supporting young people preferred
- Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (can be provided)
- Understanding of behaviour support strategies is beneficial
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two professional references
