Art Therapist
As an Art Therapist, you use creative expression to support young children's emotional well-being, helping them communicate feelings, build confidence, and develop positive coping strategies. Through structured therapeutic sessions, you guide pupils in exploring their emotions safely, fostering a nurturing environment where every child can grow socially, emotionally, and creatively. Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring and skilled Art Therapist (qualified or experienced) to work in a welcoming and supportive infant school in Basingstoke.
You will work with individual pupils and small groups who may benefit from additional therapeutic support due to emotional, social, or behavioural challenges. This part-time role is ideal for those passionate about using creativity as a tool for emotional development within a school setting.
- Deliver structured art therapy sessions to children aged 4-7
- Support pupils with emotional, social, or behavioural needs
- Help children express feelings through creative activities
- Develop tailored therapeutic approaches for individual pupils
- Work closely with the SEN and pastoral teams
- Provide clear session notes and maintain safeguarding records
- Create a safe, calm, and encouraging therapeutic space
- Qualified Art Therapist or someone with strong relevant experience delivering therapeutic or creative emotional support
- Experience working with young children (school experience preferred)
- Warm, empathetic, and child-centred approach
- Understanding of early childhood emotional development
- Ability to tailor sessions to individual needs
- Confident with safeguarding processes

- Art Therapy qualification OR relevant therapeutic/creative well-being experience
- Experience delivering emotional or creative support to children
- Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (training can be provided)
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Ability to provide two references related to therapeutic or child-based work
- Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding
- Ongoing support from our Training & Development Team
- A chance to make a meaningful difference to children's emotional well-being
- Opportunities to expand hours in nearby schools if desired
