Overview
English Teacher (QTS) - Basingstoke
Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and inspiring Qualified English Teacher to join a secondary school in the Basingstoke area. This is a short‑term opportunity for a passionate practitioner who is ready for a new challenge and keen to make a strong impact within a supportive English department. The role begins immediately after the Easter break and will continue until the end of the academic year, offering stability and consistent teaching responsibilities across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Responsibilities- Teach English Language and English Literature across KS3-KS4
- Deliver well‑planned, engaging lessons with full teaching responsibilities
- Mark work, assess progress, and provide meaningful feedback
- Support a range of learners and help drive progress across the department
- Create a positive, well‑managed classroom environment
- Engage with departmental planning and collaboration
- Holds QTS/QTLS (essential)
- Strong subject knowledge and confidence teaching English at KS3 & KS4
- Experience delivering GCSE English (any exam board)
- A proactive classroom practitioner with strong behaviour management
- Positive, organised, and committed to high standards
- Suitable for both experienced teachers and strong ECTs

Full‑time, until the end of the academic year - Salary: £32,916 - £51,047 per annum
- Key Stages: KS3-KS4
- QTS/QTLS required
- Secondary English teaching experience preferred
- Safeguarding training required (can be provided)
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Two relevant teaching references
- Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding & behaviour management
- A dedicated consultant for ongoing support
- A smooth, supportive interview and onboarding process
