About the Role

Brightstone Education Partners is supporting a thriving and forward-thinking secondary school in Basingstoke to recruit an ambitious and enthusiastic Head of PE for September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PE teacher ready to step into leadership, or an established Head of Department seeking a new challenge within a supportive and collaborative school environment.

The successful candidate will lead and develop a well-resourced PE department, driving high standards of teaching, student achievement, participation, and wellbeing across the school.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the PE department effectively

* Deliver engaging PE lessons across KS3 and KS4

* Drive student achievement, participation, and wellbeing

* Support and develop colleagues within the department

* Contribute to whole-school improvement and enrichment activities

* Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement

Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

* Strong experience teaching PE within a UK secondary setting

* Leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role

* Excellent communication and organisational skills

* Passion for sport, physical education, and student development

* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
