Student Support Assistant

FTE: 0.743244 (37 hours per week, 33 weeks per year). Start time: between 8:30am and 9:00am. End time: 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Minimum 15 hours per week, choice of days to work. Salary: £19,377.85 to £20,648.06 (pro‑rata).

This role supports the Learner Support Team in delivering in‑class support across all college lessons for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The successful candidate will work closely with curriculum teams to ensure effective support, striving to produce outstanding learning outcomes for all learners.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom assistance for learners with EHCPs across a variety of subject areas.
  • Collaborate with curriculum teams to plan and implement support strategies.
  • Document learner progress and support plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and activities.
  • Maintain high standards of learning and compliance with safeguarding policies.
  • Participate in professional development and training.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Maths and English.
  • Experience in foundation learning programmes.
  • Current authorisation to work in the UK (no sponsorship).
  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure (payable by BCoT).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
