The Role

As Second in Department for English, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Support the Head of English with the leadership and development of the department
  • Help shape and implement an ambitious English curriculum
  • Promote consistently high standards of teaching, learning and assessment
  • Use student performance data to identify priorities and raise attainment
  • Support, coach and share best practice with colleagues
  • Contribute to quality assurance, curriculum planning and departmental evaluation
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement
  • Promote a lasting appreciation of reading, writing and communication

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Has successful experience teaching English across KS3 and KS4
  • Demonstrates consistently strong classroom practice
  • Can inspire and motivate students of all abilities
  • Has high expectations for behaviour, progress and achievement
  • Can support and positively influence colleagues
  • Possesses strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is ready to contribute to departmental leadership and improvement
