Job Description
The Global Energy Manager is responsible for leading enterprise-wide energy management and sourcing initiatives to support corporate sustainability goals. This role will develop and execute strategies to optimize energy efficiency, energy procurement, reduce carbon footprint, increase the use of renewable energy, and devise a cost‑effective environmental attribute strategy across all facilities. The Energy Manager will ensure compliance with energy regulations (e.g., European Energy Directive - EED) and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
This is a hybrid role (3 days per week in the office) and can be based in Basingstoke (UK), Warsaw (Poland), Neu‑Isenburg (Germany), or Ballerup (Denmark).
- Monitor and analyze energy usage across facilities and recommend improvements to reduce consumption, costs, and overall emissions.
- Develop and implement global energy sourcing strategies to minimize cost and environmental impact, including evaluation of renewable energy credits (RECs), power purchase agreements (PPAs), on‑site self‑generation, or other energy procurement and generation.
- Determine optimal green energy mix and lead initiatives to increase renewable energy adoption to assist with corporate carbon reduction goals. This could include long‑term strategic planning to achieve a ‘net‑zero’ portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with local energy regulations, lead energy audits and assessments, liaise with regulatory bodies, and oversee the implementation of energy‑saving measures.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including energy procedures, audit trails, and reports.
- Analyze utility tariffs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Monitor market trends and regulatory changes affecting energy procurement, energy‑efficient technologies, and systems.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to identify and execute energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, legal, and sustainability teams to align energy goals with business objectives.
- Produce and execute renewable energy/energy efficiency solutions for all greenfield builds, lease renewals, and site renovations.
- Prepare reports and dashboards in conjunction with the sustainability data analytics team to track energy performance indicators and ensure alignment with carbon footprint metrics.
- Serve as subject matter expert on energy systems and technologies, energy efficiency, utility management and procurement, and integration of energy initiatives into sustainability goals and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in energy procurement, sustainability, or facilities management.
- Proven track record of implementing energy efficiency and carbon reduction programs across international markets.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy markets, carbon accounting, sustainability frameworks, and regulations (European and global).
- Experience with energy modeling, utility rate analysis, and contract negotiation (incl. Power Purchase Agreements).
- Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with energy management systems (incl. ISO 50001) and sustainability reporting tools.
