Structural Rail Engineer
An established and growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Structural Rail Engineer to join its rail infrastructure team in Basingstoke.

This role offers the chance to work on a variety of UK rail projects across the full project lifecycle, within a supportive and technically strong consultancy environment.

This position would suit an engineer with UK rail experience who is looking to develop their technical capability and progress their career within a specialist rail consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil and structural engineering design for rail infrastructure projects including bridges, retaining walls, stations, platforms, and associated rail structures
  • Produce and check engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, Eurocodes, and relevant British Standards
  • Support feasibility studies, optioneering, and detailed design development
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Provide technical support during construction, including responding to site queries
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and CDM compliance

Candidate Requirements
Essential:

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience working on UK rail infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of Network Rail standards and rail design processes
  • Ability to produce clear and accurate engineering calculations and drawings
  • Experience using AutoCAD and relevant structural analysis/design software
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Working towards or holding ICE or IStruct

    E professional membership (IEng / CEng)
  • Experience with in a rail consultancy environment
  • BIM and digital engineering experience
  • Previous site or construction support experience
