Lead Data Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer to play a key role in transforming how a global organisation leverages data across its R&D pipeline.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll combine technical excellence with squad leadership driving discovery, shaping engineering design, and delivering high-quality, enterprise‑scale data products. You’ll help modernise the data landscape, build stable and scalable pipelines, and coach junior engineers while championing best practice across the business.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading engineering squads through sprint delivery and product discovery
• Designing and delivering scalable data pipelines and data products
• Driving technical standards, governance, and quality practices
• Partnering with Product, Engineering, and Security teams
• Acting as a technical escalation point for complex data challenges
• Promoting modern data architecture and engineering approaches

What we’re looking for:

• Strong cloud experience (Azure, GCP, Databricks preferred)
• Experience with modern data architectures (lakehouse, APIs, SQL/No
  
  SQL, data contracts)
• Proven technical leadership and mentoring capability
• Passion for improving data access, quality, and speed to value

Experience with machine learning workflows, data governance, and infrastructure automation (Terraform/Ansible) would be highly beneficial.
