This role seeks a self‑motivated candidate to manage engineering projects end‑to‑end across Thames Water’s operational sites and estate.
Responsibilities- Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and ICA projects, with typical values between £100,000 and £1 million per project.
- Be individually responsible for multiple live projects at any time, with additional projects in the scoping and tendering phase.
- Work with operations teams and contractors to scope, define and cost solutions that are cost‑effective and carry minimal risk.
- Ensure compliance with the zero‑compromise health and safety policy; undertake monthly audits.
- Oversee construction of each project in line with internal policies, CDM regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with delivery partners and contractors to guarantee projects are delivered on time.
- Maintain compliance with Asset Standards, British & International Standards, and professional codes of conduct.
- Perform financial forecasting of all live projects and report on the value of work done.
- Draft, vet and approve pre‑construction information, project programmes, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and construction phase plans (CPP).
- Oversee commissioning, training and handover of completed projects to operations teams.
- Ensure completion documents—including test certificates, operation and maintenance manuals, health and safety files, and as‑constructed drawings—are available and handed over.
Base location can be either Chertsey – KT160AR
or Basingstoke – RG248LL
. You will be on site 5 days a week and may travel to multiple sites depending on the project. A full driving licence, vehicle access and insurance are required; a car allowance is paid monthly.
Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
Required Skills and Experience- Background in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related disciplines).
- Formal qualifications preferred (e.g., BTEC/HND or equivalent); relevant experience is acceptable.
- Knowledge of clean water processing and/or wastewater treatment is an advantage.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of health and safety standards, especially construction works and CDM.
- Experience in construction or engineering project management.
- Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a £4,500 car allowance.
- Performance‑related pay plan linked to company performance measures and targets.
- 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with length of service (plus bank holidays).
- Defined contribution pension – maximum 12% employer contribution, 2× employee contribution.
