We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Senior Engineering Geologist to join our Ground Engineering team. The role involves leading geotechnical design and investigation for multi‑year, multimillion‑dollar projects across sectors such as Energy, Rail, Highways, Water, Development, Defence, Nuclear, Ports & Marine.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver projects with technical quality, adhering to budget and programme.
- Provide expertise in client technical review meetings, owning decisions and proposing alternative concepts.
- Maintain client satisfaction and develop fee proposals and bids.
- Mentor junior staff and support their professional development.
- Lead geotechnical input from desk study/feasibility through to ground investigation, interpretation, and final design (specifications, interpretive reports, construction drawings, design reports).
Qualifications and experience:
- BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering or BSc and/or MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
- Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) or Geologist (CGeol) status preferred or on track to achieve within one year.
- Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions, ground investigation practices, and current design codes, standards and best practices.
- Experience in geotechnical design (earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation) with strong analytical skills and use of design software such as Slope/W, Wallap.
- Familiarity with data management software (e.g. gINT, Open Ground) and production of design packages, risk assessments and specifications.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations / Safety in Design and experience in specialised fields (e.g. highways, railways) desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical reports and deliver confident presentations.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
