Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9:00am–5:00pm
About the roleWe are currently recruiting for a Test Engineer to join an established engineering team in Basingstoke.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the assembly, testing, validation and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems and associated modules. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams to support prototype builds, product development and the identification and resolution of technical issues.
Key responsibilities- Assemble and integrate prototype equipment, modules and sub-assemblies
- Carry out mechanical assembly, electrical wiring and component installation
- Integrate sensors, motors, actuators, cameras and electronic assemblies
- Plan and execute functional, performance and reliability testing
- Create and follow test procedures and test plans
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and system-level faults
- Work with engineers to identify root causes and verify corrective actions
- Build and modify test rigs, fixtures and demonstration units
- Support engineering experiments, trials and product development activities
- Record, analyse and report test results
- Maintain accurate build, test and technical documentation
- Support engineering reviews and product validation activities
We’re looking for a practical and methodical engineer with experience working with electro-mechanical equipment.
You should have:- HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline
- Experience assembling electro-mechanical equipment
- Hands-on mechanical assembly and electrical wiring experience
- Practical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions
- Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and power supplies
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive, organised and problem-solving approach
Experience with automated machinery, motors, sensors, vision systems, motion control or software testing would be advantageous.
