Job Description & How to Apply Below
Do you enjoy being hands-on with design and want to join a growing consultancy where you can make a genuine contribution to project delivery?
Salary: £40,000–£65,000 depending on experience and technical capability.
Locations:
Basingstoke preferred. London or Manchester may also be considered. Flexible working arrangements discussed individually.
I am recruiting for a Senior Rail Telecoms Design Engineer to join my client's expanding engineering consultancy, with a particular focus on Station Information and Surveillance Systems (SISS).
My client is an established and ambitious consultancy supporting rail engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. With continued growth across its design teams, the business is looking for a technically capable Telecoms Engineer who can take ownership of design work and support the delivery of rail telecoms projects.
This is a hands-on design opportunity rather than a purely managerial position. My client is particularly interested in engineers with strong SISS design experience, whether you're already operating at CRE Design level or developing towards that responsibility.
There is also genuine scope to progress into a Principal Engineer position as the business continues to grow.
Essential Requirements
Experience in rail telecoms design, particularly Station Information and Surveillance Systems (SISS).
Strong technical design capability across rail telecoms infrastructure.
Experience producing, reviewing or coordinating engineering designs.
Good understanding of rail engineering standards, design processes and technical requirements.
Ability to take ownership of design deliverables and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with engineers, project teams and clients.
A practical, hands-on approach to engineering design and problem-solving.
Nice to Have
Experience designing CCTV, Public Address, Long Line Public Address (LLPA), Customer Information Systems (CIS) or other station telecoms systems.
Previous experience as a CRE Design or working towards CRE responsibilities.
Experience supporting technical assurance and design reviews.
Around five years or more of relevant engineering experience, although strong candidates with different experience levels will be considered.
Experience working within a rail design consultancy or design and build contractor.
Knowledge of Network Rail standards and engineering assurance processes.
Ambition to progress into a Principal Telecoms Engineer position.
Why Join?
My client offers the opportunity to join a growing rail engineering consultancy, remain actively involved in technical design and develop towards greater engineering responsibility, with genuine scope for progression as the team expands.
Interested?
If you're a Rail Telecoms Design Engineer with SISS experience and are considering your next move, I'd be keen to hear from you.
