Brief Description

As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll work closely with senior leaders across the business, providing proactive, value-adding financial insight and professional accounting advice. Reporting to the Financial Controller or Senior Finance Business Partner, you’ll help shape strategic decisions, strengthen governance, and ensure our financial processes support high-quality, forward-looking performance.

About the role (External)
  • Lead and influence senior budget holders
    , helping them understand the impact of period results and forecasts against budgets so they can make informed decisions and better understand their business performance.
  • Act as the functional expert on accounting practices
    , advising budget holders on financial results and forecasts. You’ll prepare period accruals, transfers, and adjustments to ensure accounts are relevant and reflective.
  • Champion strong corporate governance
    , conducting deep dives and ensuring compliance with financial regulations to protect the business from legal, financial, or reputational risk.
  • Deliver accurate business review reporting
    , highlighting key issues in financial and business results to support effective decision-making.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders
    , helping them understand their financial position and providing expert guidance to drive improvements in business performance.
  • Build bottom-up business plans and budgets
    , producing detailed planning that supports strong governance and valuable analysis for senior leaders.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks
    , including assessing financial suitability of new customers or suppliers to minimise risk exposure and influence key decisions.
  • Oversee central accounting performance
    , ensuring processes and outputs are efficient, effective, and aligned to the needs of your cost centre areas.
  • Lead investment appraisal and business case analysis
    , investigating options and providing recommendations to support business decision-making.
  • Model and analyse the cost base
    , identifying opportunities and efficiencies to support the achievement of area targets and continuous improvement.
  • Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential
    • Demonstrate strong understanding of business needs and relevant application of accounting standards
    • Membership (Or working towards a membership) of a relevant accounting body (CIMA/ACCA) or equivalent experience
    • Expert knowledge and experience of creating and maintaining accounts and annual budget
    • Significant experience within relevant finance disciplines
    • Strong excel skills and use of data manipulation
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to interpret technical accounting regulations into everyday language
    • Demonstrable effective influencing skills at a senior level
    • Significant understanding of financial control and risk
    • Excellent technical finance and accounting knowledge
    Desirable
    • Membership of a relevant accounting body
    • Experience of Oracle based systems
    • Degree or equivalent qualification in finance and accounting or business management or experience
