Group Tax Accountant
I'm working exclusively with a world‑leading group to appoint a Group Tax Accountant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong, commercially minded tax professional to join a high‑performing international tax team with genuine global exposure.
The OpportunityReporting to the Group Tax Manager, you will join a Global Tax team in an impactful role covering group tax reporting, global corporate tax compliance, transfer pricing, and advisory support across the group's international operations.
You’ll play a key role in delivering the group's direct tax strategy, supporting major business initiatives, and ensuring compliance excellence across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities Compliance & Reporting- Lead the preparation and submission of UK corporate tax returns in partnership with external advisors and finance teams.
- Support the year‑end group tax reporting process under IFRS, including UK tax packs, consolidation work, technical memos and auditor queries.
- Prepare group ETR and cash tax forecasts.
- Manage UK GAAP statutory reporting tax disclosures.
- Collaborate with overseas finance teams to ensure timely, accurate global tax compliance.
- Maintain a global corporate tax compliance calendar.
- Support development of the group Transfer Pricing policy and compliance plan, including preparation and review of UK and overseas TP documentation.
- Lead the UK Senior Accounting Officer compliance process.
- Contribute to the Group Tax risk register and ensure alignment with the wider group risk framework.
- Maintain global process and control documentation.
- Build strong relationships across the business, advising on operations, transactions and strategic decisions.
- Support major projects including refinancing, M&A and restructurings.
- Assist with tax controversy matters, including authority enquiries and dispute management.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation and technology enhancements.
Evaluate opportunities to maximise tax reliefs and support scenario modelling for business decisions. - Manage the Group Tax team budget, including PO management, spend tracking and forecasting.
- Recognised accounting or tax qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Understanding of consolidated and entity tax reporting under IAS 12/IFRS.
- Corporate tax experience, ideally gained in a multinational environment or a top tier firm of accountants.
- Ability to apply tax and accounting knowledge to identify and deliver business opportunities.
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
- Builds relationships quickly and effectively; proactive in developing new connections.
- Sound business judgement with proven decision‑making capability.
- Strategic thinker who can also deliver operational excellence.
- Highly organised, adaptable and able to prioritise effectively.
