This is the job

If you enjoy turning complex risk and regulatory requirements into clear, practical action, this is an opportunity to make a visible impact within AAUICL, The AA’s in-house insurance company.

Reporting to the Head of Risk, Compliance and Operations, you’ll help develop and embed AAUICL’s risk and control framework, supporting the business to achieve its strategic objectives while keeping good customer outcomes at the heart of decision-making. You’ll partner with Risk Owners and colleagues across The AA, helping identify, assess, mitigate and report risks, while supporting compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

You’ll also help keep compliance, audit and regulatory actions moving through to completion, bringing together strong analysis, attention to detail and confident stakeholder communication. This role will suit someone who takes a pragmatic, process-focused approach and can translate complex information into clear guidance.

What will I be doing?
  • Develop and embed AAUICL’s Risk Management Framework, aligning with Group Risk & Compliance so that risk systems and processes remain fit for purpose and support business needs.
  • Partner with Risk Owners to identify, assess and manage risks, facilitating assessments and recommending practical improvements that strengthen controls and mitigate issues.
  • Analyse risks, issues and incidents to identify root causes and provide clear reporting that supports informed decisions and effective governance.
  • Support compliance with relevant statutory, legislative and regulatory requirements, including GFSC, FCA and Solvency II requirements, helping colleagues and outsourced service providers understand their obligations.
  • Maintain effective Conduct and Customer Outcomes arrangements, helping the business identify and reduce the risk of poor customer outcomes.
  • Oversee key third-party and outsourcing arrangements, compliance risks, registers and control activity to support an effective Risk & Compliance function and strong lines of defence.
  • Coordinate compliance and audit actions, regulatory submissions and reporting for governance forums, helping ensure actions and deadlines are managed through to completion.
What do I need?

You’ll Bring
  • Strong experience within UK personal lines insurance, with a solid understanding of operational risk and compliance gained through frontline, advisory or assurance roles.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to connect information across data sets and make clear, timely recommendations.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with sound judgement around decision-making, escalation and risk mitigation.
  • Confident stakeholder skills, with the ability to build productive relationships, influence effectively and work…
