Location:

Basingstoke & Andover – the role will cover our screening locations in Basingstoke & Andover. There will also be travel to our programme office in Hampshire.

Salary: £24,852.66 rising upon completion of your diploma.

Diabetic eye screening is a test to check for eye problems caused by diabetes. The screening test can find eye problems before sight is affected. Pictures are taken of the back of the eyes to check for any changes.

• Ensure that patients are made to feel welcome and comfortable throughout the screening process.
• Undertake the screening checklist to ensure the screening environment is safe (for yourself and your patients).
• Provide basic maintenance of the camera and equipment to enable the best possible images.
• Safely administer eye drops (to enlarge pupils) and undertake photographs, ensuring correct field of view.
• Identify any patients requiring urgent onward referral at the time of their screening appointment.
• Maintain a sufficient stock of consumables to run the clinic.

• Compassionate and empathetic towards the requirements of each individual patient.
• Willingness to travel to our screening services in the Basingstoke & Andover area.
• Able to take detailed/up close pictures of the eye and remain composed.
• Adaptable and possess the ability to think quickly and resolve problems.
• Flexible in the working week, with occasional evening and weekend work possible.
• Commitment to completing the Health Screener Diploma within the required timeframe.
• Enjoy working with the public, caring, and have an intrinsic need to help others.
• Takes pride in customer service offered.
• Full driving licence and access to a car for travel to and from clinics.
