Please note, this role is primarily based at the Basingstoke Radiotherapy Satellite Centre, with occasional days required n duties of the jobWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Radiotherapy Clinical Specialist to provide expert clinical leadership in the planning and delivery of high-quality radiotherapy treatments.

The candidate should have the ability to demonstrate clinical expertise, sound decision-making, and the ability to lead change while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, quality, and compassionate care.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing patient care, supporting service development, and promoting excellence in radiotherapy practice.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Specialist will undertake various treatment planning and delivery, contribute to the implementation of new technologies and techniques, and provide specialist advice to patients, colleagues, and stakeholders. They will support quality assurance, clinical governance, education, research, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Working for our organisationAcross both UHS and Basingstoke Satellite Centre, we have a large and very friendly team of radiographers (over 80 clinical radiographers, advanced practitioners and assistants) delivering high-quality radiotherapy treatment to over 3,500 cancer patients each year.

At Basingstoke, we have 1 Elekta Evo Linear Accelerator (with AlignRT allowing surface-guided set-up and tracking) and 1 planning CT scanner, where the team are involved at every step of the radiotherapy pathway from planning to treatment for breast, prostate and palliative patients. Combined, we are the largest radiotherapy centre on the south coast.
Southampton comprises 6 Elekta Linear Accelerators (3 with AlignRT allowing thermal and surface-guided set-up and tracking, and 3 with Exac Trac imaging, Hexapod 6DF couches and FFF), 1 orthovoltage machine, 2 planning CT scanners (with 4D capability) and a full brachytherapy service.
DetailedJob Description And Main Responsibilities
- The Clinical Specialist in radiotherapy will have developed expertise to be able to function at the forefront of professional practice. Detailed application of knowledge and understanding of how research informs practice are required.
- To use clinical knowledge to engage appropriate interventions, when necessary, along the treatment pathway.
- To promote high professional standards, providing effective team leadership and support, ensuring regard for relevant legal, ethical and professional frameworks.
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of working at a senior level within a Radiotherapy Department

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience Essential criteria- Master’s degree or module / equivalence degree in Therapeutic Radiography/Diploma of College of Radiographers with specialist experience and courses
