Duty Clinician

Reports to:

Clinical Team Lead

Salary: 48k-50k per annum

Location:

Basingstoke - Hybrid (with occasional travel to office as required)

Hours:

37.5 hours per week (Can consider minimum of 30 hours a week)

Skylight Psychiatry is a forward thinking, dynamic mental health service. We are a CQC registered service delivering person-centred assessment, care and support, with our ultimate aim being to improve the lives of people with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, Autism and Learning disabilities.

Role Purpose

This is a newly created post. Duty responsibilities are currently shared across the clinical team on a rota basis; this role brings them together into a single, dedicated position, working alongside colleagues.

The Duty Clinician holds day-to-day responsibility for identifying, categorising and managing clinical risk across the service, in line with our Risk Management Protocol. Alongside duty work, the role also includes conducting ADHD assessments, primarily virtually, with in-person appointments where required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review all identified risks and assign a RAG rating in line with our Risk Management Protocol.
  • Complete Urgent Reviews the same day and Routine Reviews within 48 hours
  • Respond to and action-plan urgent risk concerns, escalating to the Clinical Team Lead or Clinical Director where required
  • Maintain oversight of safeguarding referrals and the safeguarding log
  • Liaise with GPs, Crisis Teams, CMHTs and other agencies to support risk management
  • Complete monthly reviews of Red Risk patients via the risk register
  • Hand over incomplete duty tasks clearly, with actions and time frames, where appropriate.
  • Conduct ADHD assessments in line with best practice and service guidelines, and prepare reports within agreed time frames
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to discuss and agree outcomes and recommendations.
  • Attend reflective practice, clinical governance meetings, MDTs and relevant training
  • Keep up to date with current research and best practice in autism/ADHD assessment
Person Specification Essential
  • Registered healthcare professional (e.g. NMC, HCPC)
  • Minimum two years post-qualification experience, including two years in a mental health setting
  • Experience of complex case management and risk assessment
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding processes and confidentiality requirements
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Proficient computer skills; training provided on our patient record system (Semble)
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work on own initiative
  • Skilled communicator, flexible and adaptable to service needs
Desirable
  • Experience conducting ADHD assessments
  • Familiarity with structured assessment tools.
