Criminal Paralegal

Basingstoke, Hampshire

Circa £26,000 per annum (depending on experience)

An established and respected law firm in Basingstoke is seeking a motivated Criminal Paralegal to join its busy Criminal Defence team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career within criminal law, working alongside experienced solicitors and gaining exposure to a varied and interesting caseload.

You will provide support to fee earners across a broad range of criminal matters, including:

• Assisting with the preparation of criminal defence cases (Legal Aid & Private Client Cases)
• Drafting legal documents and correspondence
• Liaising with clients, courts, barristers and external agencies
• Managing case files and ensuring compliance procedures are followed
• Conducting legal research and preparing case bundles
• Supporting the team with day-to-day administrative and case management tasks

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous paralegal, legal assistant or criminal law experience
• A genuine interest in pursuing a career within Criminal Defence
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
  
  Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a team
• A Law Degree, LPC, SQE studies, or equivalent legal qualification would be advantageous but is not essential

• Salary circa £26,000, depending on experience
