This is an exciting opportunity to join the Facilities team at Basingstoke and Deane Council within the Property and Assets Team.

The Council holds an established property investment and operational portfolio principally comprising industrial, office and retail assets, and with some other miscellaneous assets, valued in excess of £300m producing an annual rental income more than £19m. Rental income is a major contributor to the financial sustainability of the Council and the income received significantly exceeds that generated through the collection of Council Tax.

Following a reorganisation and recognising the important role Facilities Management plays within those buildings occupied by BDBC staff we are looking to recruit two Facilities Management Officers within the Facilities Management team.

Postholders must be able to work well within a team environment as well as working on their own when needed. They will assist in the running of an effective civic campus and council occupied depots, including a security service for staff, councillors, visitors and customers. The civic campus includes the Deanes, Goldings and Parklands buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Facilities Management Team Leader to ensure the buildings are fit for purpose for staff, customers, members and tenants to work and visit.
  • Monitor and work with contractors to ensure any works are carried out effectively and in compliance with all necessary legislation.
  • Work with Security contractors to keep campus safe and secure.
  • Carry out Caretaking duties etc.
  • Be able to work out of hours rota.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied workload, problem‑solving, and contributing to high‑quality public services. Ideally, you will have experience of working in a similar environment, combined with excellent communication and team working skills.

Salary – This will be dependent on the level of experience of the successful candidate but will be between £32,727- £33,933 (Grade

D). The postholders will also need to take part in a standby and call out rota and will be renumerated accordingly. We have two roles available, one permanent post and one for a 12 month fixed term contract.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Gary Blakemore Facilities Management Team Leader oor by email at gary.
