Logistics Controller

Permanent Our client is a well-established manufacturing business seeking an experienced Logistics Controller to join its Production Control team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in logistics, production control, inventory management or materials planning who is looking to take ownership of logistics processes within a busy manufacturing environment.

The Role As Logistics Controller, you will play a key role in coordinating the flow of materials, production information and inventory across the business. You will work closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Inventory Control to ensure materials and production activities are delivered efficiently and in line with customer requirements. The role will involve managing engineering changes, production orders, inventory accuracy and system data, while supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities Coordinate logistics and inventory activities across production and manufacturing. Manage engineering change requirements and ensure relevant ERP system updates are completed accurately. Support the introduction and management of prototype and engineering change activities. Work closely with Inventory Control to maintain high levels of stock accuracy and system integrity. Manage production orders, including raising, maintaining, closing and updating orders as required.

Monitor and maintain accurate master data, production information and inventory records. Support material availability and ensure production requirements are met on time. Liaise with Engineering, Production, Purchasing and other internal departments to resolve supply and production issues. Monitor logistics and production KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Support efficient material flow and ensure agreed processes and procedures are followed.

Work closely with Production Supervisors and other key stakeholders to achieve daily production targets. Participate in relevant production planning, capacity, scheduling and performance review meetings. About You The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience in logistics, production control, materials planning or inventory control within a manufacturing environment. At least 2 years' experience working with computerised stock control or ERP systems.

Experience with systems such as SAP, BAAN, BPCS, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics or similar would be advantageous. A good understanding of MRP/MRPII principles within a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of BOMs, routings, production orders and inventory control processes. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to maintaining accurate systems and records. Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across Production, Engineering, Purchasing and other departments.
