Charge Nurse – Beechwood Ward – Parklands Hospital

Beechwood Ward at Parklands Hospital is a specialist assessment and treatment inpatient service for older adults with functional mental health needs, including depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. The ward provides a safe, therapeutic environment, supported by a dedicated garden and outdoor seating area for patients and visitors, promoting wellbeing and recovery.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Charge Nurse to provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring delivery of high-quality, person‑centred care. The post holder will play a key role in coordinating the multidisciplinary team, supporting staff development, and maintaining a safe, responsive, and recovery‑focused environment in line with Trust and CQC standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take part in clinical and management supervision and attend all developmental training sessions.
  • Take charge of a ward from time to time as allocated.
  • Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
  • Exercise leadership within the service by ensuring sound organisation, good communication and relationships within the nursing team under the guidance and supervision of the Ward Manager and Nurse Team Leader.
  • Inform the Ward Manager and/or Nurse Team Leaders of any specific clinical activity as appropriate.
  • Inform the Ward Manager and/or Nurse Team Leaders of any professional issues as necessary.
  • Report to, or assist/advise the Ward Manager and/or Nurse Team Leaders of any matters of complaint.
Qualifications
  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council Registration (RGN/RMN/Dual Trained)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and completion of the rotational developmental programme of training.

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 a year (based on full‑time equivalent)
