Sauter in the UK is a fast growing group of companies specialising in M&E contracting, Building Controls, Technical Facility Services and a number of associated disciplines. Each company within the group operates semi‑autonomously, but the group needs to operate oversight and ensure the group’s high quality standards are met consistently.
The RoleThis is a UK-wide role. The Building Services Clarke of Work / Quality Controller is a key role within the UK Group’s quality control team which includes the UK Commercial Director and UK CFO. The Quality Controller’s role is to technically review ongoing projects to ensure compliance with the contractual specification, schedules, drawings and applicable British standard and guidance documents and that work is being delivered to the high standards expected by our clients.
The role of the Quality Controller will be to write job reports in conjunction with the UK Commercial Director to give as complete as possible a picture of the current status of the job reviewed. This should highlight what has been reviewed and highlight any deficiencies found, as well as possible project/business opportunities. These reports will be delivered to the relevant managing director and wider UK management who will decide on what actions to take.
The purpose of the controlling team is to add value by early identification of issues so that these can be addressed.
- Ensuring that health and safety is prioritised on site.
- Developing a standardised process for technical review of a contract and incorporating lessons learned from previous jobs.
- Reviewing that all site works are documented, installed, approved and documented as appropriate and align to specification/manufacturer requirements and standards.
- Reviewing that all relevant internal procedures have been complied with from tender handover over to practical completion and end of DLP periods (specific consideration to the key commercial considerations).
- Reviewing that any products used are as per scope or that any value engineered alternatives have been appropriately agreed in writing with the client.
- Reviewing whether teams carrying out duties are appropriately qualified and competent for the task.
- Aiding in inter‑business support and adopting best practice procedurally.
- 20+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical contracting with relevant qualifications.
