We are currently recruiting for a Functional Test Technician to join a leading electronics manufacturing organisation based in Basingstoke.
Operating within a modern, high-tech manufacturing environment, the business provides electronics manufacturing and supply chain solutions to customers across a range of sectors, including commercial, space, defence, transport, audio, motor sport and instrumentation.

The RoleReporting to the Production Lead, the Functional Test Technician will be responsible for carrying out product testing, quality assurance and inspection activities to ensure products meet required quality and performance standards.
The successful candidate will set up and operate test equipment, analyse test results and work closely with engineering and quality teams to identify and resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate test equipment and processes in line with specifications and procedures.
- Conduct functional, environmental and performance testing on products and components.
- Record and analyse test data, reporting any deviations or non-conformities.
- Interpret test procedures and adjust processes where required to maintain quality standards.
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, technical documentation and specifications.
- Maintain test equipment and carry out routine calibration and basic troubleshooting activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality and production teams, as well as external customers where required, to resolve testing issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 3–5 years' experience within a test, quality assurance or manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience within electronics manufacturing or a similar sector such as SMT, aerospace or automotive.
- Familiarity with electrical, mechanical or software testing processes.
- Strong analytical, root cause investigation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Hands-on experience with automated test systems, including ICT and functional testers.
- Knowledge of ISO quality standards and continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma.
