Job Description

Join our dynamic Nature team as a Consultant Ecologist in our growing offices across the UK & I. In this role you will support a mix of large infrastructure projects in energy, water, renewables, defence and transport, and smaller local projects, while also supporting national and international projects.

Responsibilities
  • Organise and carry out desk studies and field based habitat, botanical, protected and non‑native invasive species surveys.
  • Undertake analysis, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of ecological data, supporting production of Ecological Impact Assessments and design of mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver protected species and habitat surveys safely, analyse and evaluate results, produce impact assessments and design and implement successful mitigation strategies.
  • Perform the role of an Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in an ecology‑related role in the public and/or private sector, including designing, coordinating and leading field surveys.
  • Developed knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and policy, particularly relevant to Wales, and the Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) process.
  • Experience in botanical identification, undertaking Phase 1 Habitat/NVC surveys and/or protected species surveys, preferably bats or dormouse.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to work, able to meet peaks in demand, including occasional longer work or unsociable hours and working away from home for days or weeks.
  • Strong report‑writing skills with demonstrable experience producing a range of reports and providing ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
