Working Hours:
Full time - 39.5 hours per week (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:24, week 2: 08:00 - 16:24). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (06:00 - 14:24 with a weekday day off)
- Salary: £46,095.
- Additional weekend supplement on Saturday (£53.66 per shift) is applicable.

The Role
With a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, including traditional fuel and electric vehicles, LCVs and HGVs, maintaining our vehicles is a true team effort. Reporting to the Fleet Workshop Manager, the Shift Supervisor provides a pivotal supporting role to the Workshop management team. Responsible for leading operations across a shift in line with production planning and control requirements, you’ll deploy agreed processes and staff resources to ensure the Workshop operates safely and delivers high levels of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the team by delivering weekly team meetings, shift huddles and contributing to the remedial approach to incident handling while ensuring technicians’ wellbeing following return from sick absence.
- Perform a full range of inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment when required.
- Use your personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair of light/heavy goods vehicles.
- Have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.
- Perform effective stock control processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of work orders and associated vehicle documentation to meet both business and legal requirements.
- Experienced leader who has managed a team of vehicle technicians with excellent knowledge of health & safety and the ability to communicate technical issues to the team.
- Fully qualified mechanic to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent) with a personal toolkit for standard repairs.
- Proven vehicle technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV/HGV.
- Valid UK driving licence: full manual UK driving licence.
- High working standards: takes pride in work and ensures the job is done effectively.
- Flexible to service demands: able to work on a flexible shift rota and always willing to support the team where necessary.
