- Provide individual and group instruction in areas of literacy:
Adult Basic Education, ESL, Adult Secondary Education including GED preparation, digital literacy, financial literacy, family literacy, workforce preparation, and/or special projects. - Ensure that a minimum of 75 % of paid time is devoted to instruction, counseling, and/or assessment.
- Facilitate new student orientation, including registration, baseline assessments, scoring, and introductions.
- Develop daily lesson plans tailored to student instructional needs.
- Ensure student sign‑in/out of class.
- Maintain retention through outreach, recruitment, classroom structure, and other supervisory duties.
- Incorporate functional context, health literacy, civics, workforce preparation, digital literacy, transition skills into lesson planning based on Texas Adult Education Content Standards.
- Maintain and update instructional materials; keep inventory and inform supervisor of needs.
- Consult with supervisor or instructional coach on lesson plans, activities, materials, classroom/site management, and staff development.
- Submit weekly attendance, lesson plans, and requested reports.
- Meet TEAMS accountability requests, including retention and measurable skills gains as outlined by TWC‑AEL.
- Participate in professional development as required by TWC‑AEL or supervisor.
- Provide information on CAI programs, invite colleagues or agency representatives as guest speakers.
- Collaborate with site partners and community organizations to deliver services efficiently.
- Execute special project assignments per grant or funding requirements.
- Submit timesheets and mileage accurately.
- Attend all staff and other meetings.
- Manage time effectively.
- Be a positive role model.
- Maintain confidentiality of records, client services, and staff.
- Adhere to agency best practices on time and leave.
- Dress appropriate to work environment.
- Maintain professionalism.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean environment.
- Willingness to work at alternative locations.

- Required
:
Bachelor’s Degree in any field. - Preferred
:
Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field; experience teaching adults or facilitating groups; experience working with educationally or economically disadvantaged adults; experience in collaborative/team environments.
- Ability to stand for duration of class.
- Ability to carry classroom materials.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
