Job SummaryThe Maintenance Planner expedites the flow of work and materials within the maintenance department according to work orders and the production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing work orders, coordinating maintenance activities, compiling reports on progress, inventory levels, costs, and maintenance problems, and collaborating with supervisors and vendors.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities- Examine documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
- Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel, materials requirements, and material priorities.
- Confer with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
- Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, in collaboration with management, production, maintenance, and logistics.
- Coordinate with vendors and customers to schedule maintenance activities and resolve complaints to eliminate delays.
- Record maintenance data, including work orders, spare parts used, and missed deadlines.
- Maintain requisitions and inventory of materials and supplies to meet maintenance demands.
- Calculate required amounts of labor and materials, manufacturing costs, and wages using pricing schedules and other tools.
- Distribute maintenance schedules and work orders to departments.
- Compile information such as work order rates, progress, and material usage so that status reports may be completed.
- Execute all additional duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years in a production or maintenance environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to multitask, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated time‑management skills.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Capability to work well in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in faxing, copying, and scanning documents.
Work environment may involve high noise levels, strong odors, heat and cold exposure, hazardous or toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, dangerous equipment, and occasional travel to off‑site locations. Employees must be able to perform tasks such as sitting, walking, using hands, stooping, balancing, and handling weight up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision (20 inches) and no special vision requirements.
