Repair and Tool Technician role at The Home Depot focuses on evaluating and repairing small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. Technicians provide equipment recommendations and ensure units are maintained. They work in both stores with Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers. In stores, technicians service Tool Rental customers, write customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, verify tools are operating properly, and demonstrate proper use as needed.
They also manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the tool rental department. In non-store locations, technicians ensure units are repaired, tested for repair quality, and cleaned before returning to the originating store. Technicians must have a thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools as necessary.
