Packaging Engineer

Responsible for developing, designing, and testing standards and guidelines for packaging solutions for the company products.

This role will be working together with customers , internal resources and packaging suppliers to achieve functional packaging goals.

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience at the same field
• Familiar with 6S and lean manufacturing methodologies
• Team-oriented, flexible with strong leadership skills.
• Structured method of operation, self-dependent with an ability to work well under pressure and given deadlines.
• Independent, motivated, with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ensure daily tasks are performed in alignment with OHS&E practices and applicable standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001), and Automotive Quality Management System (IATF 16949)

• Doing analysis for the current packaging containers inbound and outbound and propose improvement plans.
• Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing for NPIs and existing products.
• Review new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
• Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
• Establish standards and guidelines for packaging. Evaluate and select packaging suppliers/vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews.
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing.
• Participate in product introduction teams, to deliver new products packaging to OEMs .
• Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
• Work closely with Engineering to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
• Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs.
• Work with production department to ensure that the packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability.
• Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging meets customer specifications.
