Your future roleAs a Product Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of product applications that meet both internal and external customer requirements. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions by applying sound engineering principles and best practices, in full compliance with Austin’s Engineering Standards and Procedures. This role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail in engineering drawings, and a commitment to excellence in quality, safety, and compliance
- Develop and deliver precise engineering designs for product applications that align with project scope, customer requirements, and Austin’s engineering standards.
- Translate product proposals into final designs that meet the Statement of Work (SOW), OEM machine design envelopes, and all relevant global, mining, quality, and cost standards.
- Create new or revise existing product designs based on customer specifications, following the Engineering Product Release (EPR) process.
- Ensure all designs and documentation are accurate, high-quality, and fully compliant with internal procedures and external standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments such as manufacturing, sales, and marketing to ensure alignment across all phases of the design and development process.
- Clearly document assumptions and critical design considerations and communicate them effectively to Sales to support accurate proposals and expectations.
- Produce photo-realistic 3D renderings and animations to support marketing efforts and enhance product visualization for customers.
- Identify opportunities for design improvement and contribute to innovation in product functionality, performance, and manufacturability.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong accountability, time management, and attention to detail.
- Stay current with engineering tools and software, particularly Solid Works, ensuring up-to-date skills and best practices in design execution.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5-8 years of experience in Solid Works design including sheet metal component and assembly design.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication.
- 5 Years post-graduate experience in Mechanical Engineering and manufacturing OR a minimum of 8 years mechanical design experience within a similar environment.
- Knowledge and experience of Solid Works design software or the equivalent is mandatory.
- Experience with 3D solid modelling software is required and familiarity with CREO is advantageous
- Basic drafting skills using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor and proficiency in English are mandatory.
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially in technical drawings and documentation.
- Ability to manage workload independently and work effectively with limited supervision.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and engineering standards.
- Creative, analytical, and able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
