Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Inspector is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and ensuring the quality and compliance of all mechanical systems and equipment installed on vessels and offshore structures. This role involves conducting detailed inspections, verifying materials and workmanship against drawings, specifications, and class requirements, and coordinating with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve any mechanical-related issues. The Senior Mechanical Inspector also provides technical guidance to junior inspectors and supports continuous improvement of inspection procedures and standards.
KeyRequirements
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical engineering/Science discipline/Industrial experience
- Mechanical/HVAC certification holder will be an advantage
- Min 3 years of Mechanical/HVAC inspector or installation or engineering experience in shipyard, oil & gas industry or related field
- Familiar with IACS’s Classification Society Rules
- Experience with propulsion installation, such as shaft alignment etc.
- Reasonable command in English language and effective communication skills
- Reasonably organized and good attitude to work
- Carry out, coordinate and arrange inspections for incoming material and equipment
- Perform in-process and completion inspection on Mechanical and HVAC items and ensure adherence to related Standards
- Arrange final inspection with Class Surveyor and Owner representatives
- Support mechanical/HVAC trades with regards to mechanical completion reports
- Ensure inspection conducted in a safe manner and follow company’s HSE policies
- Ensure Inspection Test Plan (ITP) is strictly followed and inspection and testing are carried out in a timely manner
- Coordinate and liaise with classification societies, Ship Superintendents and/or owner representatives for quality-related issues
- Daily involvement of the QA department activities, routine updating and filling of all relevant inspection records
- Support mechanical/HVAC pre-commissioning and commissioning when as required
- Support other inspections such as piping, outfitting when as required
