Job Summary
The Construction Environmental, Health, and Safety Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing EHS management systems, policies, and technical standards to ensure full compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations throughout construction activities. This role requires strong leadership and extensive technical expertise to proactively identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures across high-risk activities such as lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, and energy isolation to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
Responsibilities- Technical Program Management – Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company standards, and client requirements. Ensure all construction activities are executed in accordance with EHS requirements and industry best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance – Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable local and international EHS regulations and standards, including U.S. OSHA, EPA, Indonesian MOM, and NEA. Ensure all project policies, procedures, and practices are aligned with these requirements.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation – Conduct comprehensive project risk assessments and maintain a project risk register to identify, evaluate, and control safety, health and environmental risks. Develop and implement effective mitigation measures to reduce identified risks.
- Audit and Inspection Leadership – Plan, lead, and participate in internal EHS audits, site inspections, and regulatory inspections. Analyse findings, ensure timely closure of corrective actions, and provide technical EHS leadership for high-risk construction activities.
- Training and Communication – Develop and deliver EHS induction programs, toolbox talks, and specialized training. Act as a technical subject matter expert and effectively communicate EHS expectations and performance across the project.
- Incident Management – Lead investigations of incidents, near‑misses, and unsafe conditions, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Stakeholder Coordination – Coordinate and collaborate with project teams, contractors, and relevant external authorities on all EHS‑related matters to ensure alignment, compliance, and effective implementation of EHS programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline; engineering background preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) role, preferably within construction, oil and gas, or infrastructure projects.
- Mandatory certification as an EHS professional, such as AK3U, Lifting Safety certification, Electrical Safety certification, and Working at Height certification. Additional certifications including IOSH, NEBOSH, CSP, or Fire Safety are considered advantageous.
