The Supervisor Shipyard Maintenance Planner is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance activities across newbuilding projects for both naval (warcraft) and commercial vessels. This role ensures that equipment, tools, and facilities used in the construction process are properly maintained to support project timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

Develop, supervise, and continuously update maintenance plans and schedules for shipyard equipment, machinery, and facilities supporting newbuilding projects.

Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to align maintenance activities with project milestones and delivery deadlines.

Supervise a team of maintenance planners and technicians, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring work is completed on schedule and to standard.

Ensure compliance with shipyard safety regulations, classification society requirements, and applicable naval/commercial vessel construction standards.

Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for cranes, dry docks, welding equipment, and other critical shipyard assets.

Track maintenance costs, spare parts inventory, and vendor/contractor performance; prepare reports for management.

Identify potential equipment failures or bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to minimize project delays.

Liaise with naval/military project stakeholders and commercial clients as required, ensuring maintenance planning supports both project types appropriately.

Maintain accurate documentation and records for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Minimum 5 years of experience in shipyard maintenance planning, preferably within newbuilding projects involving naval and/or commercial vessels.

Strong knowledge of maintenance planning systems (CMMS), shipyard equipment, and construction processes.

Familiarity with naval vessel construction standards and classification society requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register) is a plus.

Proven supervisory or team-leadership experience.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in maintenance software, MS Office, and project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across departments and with external stakeholders.

Knowledge of shipyard safety and regulatory compliance standards.
