About the Role
We are hiring a Data Centre Technician who acts as the technical liaison between technology teams and the data center environment, supporting troubleshooting, documentation, escalation, and maintenance of infrastructure systems. The role also involves improving processes, introducing automation, and independently executing small projects while supporting larger local initiatives.
Role Summary & Responsibility- Understand internal customer problems and provide technical solutions in a timely manner.
- Understand customer urgency and sensitivity of problems.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with internal customers.
- Work well within a demanding customer environment and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain strong adherence to processes and act as a process champion.
- Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of production server hardware and software.
- Provide escalated 2nd level technical support for complex technical issues, including leading problem management cases and providing status updates to management.
- Manage escalated support cases and coordinate with internal technical resources and/or third-party vendors until resolution.
- Assist with server operating system and application upgrades, bug fixes, and patching.
- Perform replacement of failed components such as hard drives, DIMMs, and other server hardware.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
- Replace AOC, QSFP, MPO, and Cat6 cables.
- Troubleshoot basic switch issues and perform switch replacements when required.
- Support standardization projects for both hardware and software under the Oracle technology stack.
- Ensure consistent system uptime as expected in an IaaS environment.
- Work on a shift basis in a 24/7/365 working environment, including participation in an on‑call roster when required.
- Strong background in Linux.
- Previous experience working in a Data Centre environment, including racking and stacking equipment, cable management, and hot/cold aisle containment.
- Solid experience supporting servers, storage, and networking technology.
- Solid knowledge of the Data Centre ecosystem, including cooling, electrical systems, networking, and structured cabling.
- Experience in performance management and troubleshooting.
- Experience with base operating system installation.
- Ability to work in a 24/7/365 shift‑based environment, including on‑call rostered shifts.
