Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Circulation Services Manager oversees the Circulation Services Department, including staff and the circulation of library materials.
Primary Responsibilities- Foster a culture of exceptional customer service by ensuring staff provide accurate, friendly, and courteous service, creating a positive library experience. Ensure all staff are trained in customer service best practices.
- Supervise Circulation Services staff and manage the daily operations of the Library’s Circulation Services department.
- Hire, mentor, manage, and evaluate Circulation Services staff, and coordinate and monitor department workflows and schedules.
- Identify department priorities; develop and improve departmental procedures and workflows.
- Oversee and maintain accurate database and filing systems of cardholder and borrowing records including running reports, evaluating data, and purging records.
- Provide monthly statistics and reports related to circulation statistics.
- Maintain accurate Interlibrary Loan policies, procedures, and records.
- Engage in professional development activities to stay current with trends and best practices.
- As a member of the Management Team, create, implement, and execute the Library’s strategic plan, policies, and procedures. Support and contribute to the Library’s mission.
- Interpret and explain department and library policies to patrons and staff.
- Act as Person-In-Charge (PIC) when scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Library science or LTA coursework preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of public library experience, preferably in circulation services.
- Minimum of 2-3 years supervisory experience, preferably in a library setting.
- Proficient technology skills, including Microsoft Windows and Office applications, Google Suite applications, Internet, and the ability to adapt to changing technology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and effective leadership abilities.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands and arms, kneel, or get down on the floor, and climb stools. The ability to push carts of library materials weighing up to 100 pounds and lift materials weighing up to 25 pounds is required.
- Work is performed in a typical library environment. This is a full-time position that requires occasional weekend work and one evening per week.
- $62,439 – $93,659
