Camp Manager – Summer Camp Manager

Join the Camp Manager team at Batavia Park District and lead a fun, safe, and engaging summer camp for elementary school children.

Job Summary

The Summer Camp Manager plans, organizes, and supervises daily camp operations, cares for children, supports staff, communicates with parents, and handles administrative duties.

Essential Functions
  • Collect and verify participant and parent information, including allergies, medications, and special accommodations.
  • Plan camp programs, create crafts, activities, field trips, and work schedules; prepare orientation files for staff and substitutes.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and coach staff; handle performance and disciplinary actions; assist Recreation Supervisors with performance evaluations.
  • Assist counselors with supervision, discipline, and provide leadership and resources.
  • Provide onsite support to staff and participants; resolve conflicts using problem‑solving skills.
  • Communicate with Park District staff and Special Recreation Association; maintain food, craft, and game inventories.
  • Utilize Rec Trac to print rosters and drive transportation for field trips; maintain a clean driving record.
  • Offer First Aid care or CPR as needed; perform all tasks within safety program guidelines.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or state equivalent required;
    Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years of supervising children; 21+ required.
  • Applicants without a college degree should be enrolled in a related college program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • First Aid/CPR certified;
    Valid Driver’s License.
  • Completed background check.
  • Capability to manage multiple children’s needs simultaneously.
  • Positive behavior reinforcement and disciplinary techniques.
  • Excellent communication with public, staff, parents, and children.
  • Professional image and customer service orientation.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Standing, walking, moving, lifting up to 25 lbs; indoor/outdoor activities in weather conditions.
  • Exposure to noise, water, and outdoor play.
  • Assistance with program set‑up and classroom preparation.
Hours

Monday – Friday (varied shifts for seasonal summer position).

Salary

$22.00 per hour – no benefits; seasonal only.
