Adult & Teen Services Associate

Under the direct supervision of the Adult & Teen Services Manager, the Adult & Teen Services Associate is integral to providing outstanding reference, readers advisory, and technology support services to library patrons.

• Deliver consistent, friendly, and professional customer service to the public and staff while working at the reference desk.
• Provide reference and reader’s advisory services in person, by telephone, e-mail, and via chat.
• Guide patrons by offering personalized suggestions and advice tailored to individual reading preferences.
• Assist patrons with self-service resources, including photocopiers, printers, computers, software applications, databases, online registration, and services designed for adults and teens.
• Perform other assigned duties and tasks as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in any major from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Previous customer service, library, and technology experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively provide readers’ advisory and reference services.
• Proficient technology skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of authors, literature, and materials catering to adults and teens preferred.

• The employee must frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands and arms, kneel, or get down on the floor, and climb stools.

• Work is performed in a typical library environment.

$19.30-$26.11 per hour
