Quarry Manager

Job Summary

The Quarry Manager is responsible for daily operations and safety of the beach, as well as the management and training of supervisors, lifeguards, cashiers and custodians.

• Responsible for opening and closing of the facility, including checking and monitoring filtration system, water quality/temperature, attending to staff, and, in the absence of the Head Cashier, disbursing cash to admissions office and concessions, preparing deposits, and completing daily sheets for Finance.
• Accountable for maintaining water quality and sending bi-weekly water samples to the state.
• Direct the patrolling of the Quarry and the enforcement of safety rules and regulations.
• Respond to all emergencies that may occur - administer first aid as needed.
• Lead weekly guard practices.
• Supervise special events outside of normal business hours such as private rentals and aquatics programs.
• Work with audit staff selected by insurance company to complete required monthly audits of the beach.
• In conjunction with and at the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, conduct performance reviews with staff at end of season.
• Create weekly schedules for supervisors, lifeguards, and custodians.
• Responsible for scheduling, performance, and discipline issues of staff.
• Review time cards for lifeguards and custodial staff and send to payroll.
• Resolve any questions, issues and complaints customers may have.
• Perform all jobs and tasks within guidelines and rules of District’s safety program.
• Provide new and returning guards with pre-season and ongoing certification training.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

High School degree and three years of lifeguarding experience required. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Associate’s degree or college coursework preferred. Applicant must be 18 or older.

• Aquatic instructor certification (Star Guard).
• Strong swimming and/or lifeguarding skills.
• Effective leadership and supervisory skills.
• Aptitude to perform under high pressure time sensitive situations.
• Solid decision-making skills and work directly with Rec Supervisor and Director of Community Recreation.
• General computer and cash handling skills.
• Ability to communicate with the public.
• Understand and anticipate customer’s needs as well as support a customer service environment.
• Ability to portray a professional image of the District.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship between employees, supervisors and public.
• Adhere to the CORE VALUES of the District.
• Adhere to the time and attendance policy.

Requires frequent sitting and walking with occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items weighing up to 30 pounds, rescues may require lifting up to 300lbs with assistance. Most activities are performed outdoors; including hot, humid and wet conditions. May be occasionally exposed to chemicals associated with normal beach maintenance. Exposure to a quiet noise level while in office and a moderately loud level while outside.

11:30am - 7:00pm (Hours worked may be between the hours 10:30am - 8:00pm)

$20.00-$24.00 hourly may vary based on experience and qualifications
