Quarry Lead Lifeguard at Batavia Park District
Job SummaryUnder close supervision of the Aquatic Manager, performs professional duties in ensuring effective performance of lifeguard functions. Ensures that all lifeguards are fully competent in performing water rescue procedures and coordinates in ensuring safety of patrons by enforcing rules. Shows mastery of the lifeguard position and consistently performs lifeguard duties and expectations at a five-star level.
Essential Functions- Performs all lifeguard responsibilities including monitoring pool activities, applying first aid, and performing water rescues as necessary.
- Ensures swimmers are well supervised in the pool and on deck. Fills in for lifeguards as necessary.
- Serves as a mentor to new lifeguards by orienting them to job duties and responsibilities.
- Keeps management team informed of pool maintenance needs, staffing needs and safety concerns.
- Coordinates and conducts in‑service trainings; provides feedback during training to ensure lifeguards are fully competent in first aid, CPR and all water rescue techniques.
- Enforces Quarry policies, rules and regulations.
- Responsible for representing the Park District in a professional manner.
Completion of three years of high school education or age 18 and two years of lifeguard experience, or prior lifeguard supervisory experience.

Ability to perform multiple “sand‑grabs” from the 14‑ft deep end, submerge to a depth of 10 feet, retrieve a bowling ball and bring it to the surface, complete a continuous 100‑meter swim, and tread water for two minutes (one minute hands‑free, one minute using hands). Requires frequent sitting and walking with occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items weighing up to 30 pounds;
rescues may require lifting up to 300 lbs with assistance. Most activities are performed outdoors; including hot, humid and wet conditions. May be occasionally exposed to chemicals associated with normal beach maintenance. Background noise: quiet level in the office and moderately loud level outside.
Hourly Rate: $18.50
