PositionSummary
The Manufacturing Engineer plans and coordinates manufacturing processes at our Batesville, IN plant, developing and improving the methods, layouts, and documentation that let us build products efficiently and to standard. You'll be accountable for accurate CAD models and manufacturing documentation, production time and cost estimates, and ongoing process improvements. You'll also serve as a hands-on technical resource for production teams, management, and vendors.
EssentialFunctions
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models of products so engineering data stays current and accurate.
- Produce complete manufacturing documentation, including prints, tolerances, bills of material, assembly instructions, and quality checklists, consistent with corporate and industry standards so products are built right the first time.
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods across fabrication, tooling, production equipment, finishing, assembly, and quality control to increase efficiency and product quality.
- Analyze workflow, space requirements, and workforce utilization, and design equipment and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency.
- Support manufacturing personnel in troubleshooting product and process issues to keep production running smoothly.
- Evaluate, develop, and process product improvement requests.
- Work with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs, and apply statistical methods to forecast future manufacturing needs.
- Coordinate with management and other staff on manufacturing capabilities and production schedules to support smooth production.
- Follows all Wood-Mizer safety, quality, and company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 1 - 3 years of manufacturing experience
- Ability to develop engineering models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD software
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Working knowledge of manufacturing database systems
- Experience with Creo
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Syteline preferred)
