A dynamic organisation in Bath is seeking an Accountant to join their central finance team and take responsibility for key areas of the financial close, reporting and accounting processes.

The role will suit a qualified AAT or part-qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) with strong knowledge of credits and debits, excellent attention to detail and experience working across month end, reconciliations and transactional finance.

Key responsibilities of the Accountant position include:
  • Take ownership of key aspects of the month end process
  • Prepare and post month end journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain and manage the fixed asset register
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for month end and year end reporting
  • Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with accounting controls
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciliation issues
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements
  • Work closely with internal teams to provide accurate financial information
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting
Skill and attributes to be successful in this role include:
  • Experience working in a fast paced accounting role
  • A good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across the business
  • A relevant accounting qualification or be working towards one, is desirable
