Finance Assistant

Main duties and responsibilities1 Statutory Financial Reporting

• Preparation of the primary financial statements and supporting working papers.
• Preparation of detailed notes to the financial statements.
• Ensuring disclosures comply with FRS 102 and other relevant reporting requirements.
• Reconciling supporting schedules and ensuring consistency between financial statements and underlying records.
• Assisting with the consolidation process.
• Supporting the review and resolution of technical accounting matters arising during the year-end process.
• Working with the Design team on the production of the Annual Accounts for publication, including the review and proofreading the drafts.

• Acting as a key contact for audit information requests.
• Maintaining the audit request tracker (Inflo) and monitoring progress against deadlines.
• Coordinating responses from finance colleagues and other stakeholders.
• Preparing audit supporting documentation and reconciliations.
• Following up outstanding audit queries to ensure timely resolution.

• Reviewing the impact of recent changes to FRS 102.
• Supporting implementation of revised accounting requirements, with the focus on leases and revenue recognition.
• Reviewing of the contracts to establish the correct accounting treatment under the revised FRS 102.
• Preparing technical accounting papers and position papers as required.
• Recommending improvements to accounting processes, controls and documentation.
• Assisting with the development and maintenance of accounting policy manuals and guidance notes.

• Support the maintenance of a robust financial control environment.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Assist with year-end journals and adjustments.
• Support the resolution of accounting issues identified during the financial close process.
• Ensure financial records are accurate, complete and supported by appropriate documentation.

• Build effective working relationships with Finance colleagues, auditors and other stakeholders.
• Support the Financial Accounts Team with additional year-end activities as required.
• Undertake other duties of a similar nature appropriate to the level of the role.
