Ward Clerk- Forrester Brown Ward Band 2 Job overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our clerical team on Forrester Brown ward.
Forrester brown is a 24 bedded unit which takes in Orthopaedic Trauma patients.
Duties include reception and clerical support to the Unit, stores management and general administrative duties.
Good IT skills are required and previous experience of working in a hospital environment would be desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
You also need strong communication skills with the ability to work in a pressurised environment.

Main duties of the jobTo provide efficient and professional administrative and clerical support to Forrester Brown ward. This will include:
- To greet patients and relatives in a friendly and courteous manner and provide relevant information clearly to them.
- Direct patients and relatives to facilities on the ward.
- Answer all telephone enquiries, taking and relaying messages in a polite and helpful manner, taking action as appropriate.
- Liaise with nurses, Doctors, GP’s and other members of the team obtaining and communicating necessary information accurately to assist the provision of a quality service for the patients.
- Maintain the admissions book, inpatient board and patient details/ appointments on the patient administration system
- To support the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team in the efficient and courteous discharging of patients.
- To retrieve case notes and x-rays and other test results as appropriate and prepare for admissions.
- Arrange follow up appointments and transport for patients when required.
- Organise the maintenance/repair of equipment/facilities when required for the ward.
- Preferably some experience in an acute setting.
- Proficiency in multiple IT systems.
- Communication skills in both written and verbal.
- Organisational and methodical.
- Some experience in an NHS hospital setting.
- Experience in file management.
