Data Analyst, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about environmental compliance? We're looking for a Regulatory Analyst to join our Flow and Level Compliance team, where you'll play a key role in supporting compliance reporting and performance tracking.
This is a dynamic role that willsee you working alongside acollaborativeteam ofskilled analyst and compliance specialists focused on environmental regulation, dataanalysisand compliance.
You'llhelp transform environmental data into meaningful insights that support regulatory compliance and business decision-making.

Event Duration Monitoring (EDM),tracking and investigating issues,reporting compliance with regulatory permitsto the businessandliaising with regulators.
As a Regulatory Analyst, you'll provide technical and analytical support across a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- supporting the team with near real-time reporting of overflow discharges via the Wessex Water Coast and Rivers Watch web map. This includes management and quality assurance of data to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- be responsible for daily exception checks, highlighting issues for investigation and working with operational teams to resolve them
- supporting the business to meet the MCERTS certification programme for Operator Self-Monitoring, this includes booking of site inspections, raising purchase orders and maintaining corporate records
- weekly, monthly and annual reporting of regulatory EDM and flow data to support Wessex Water to meet the Environmental Permitting Regulations and Environmental legislation
- liaising with and responding to requests from regulators and external bodies, such as the Environment Agency, Ofwat, Defra and customers following an Environmental Information Request. This includes providing written reports and action plans to demonstrate compliance and support regulatory investigations where required
- provide analytical support to the Flow Compliance Adviser, enabling the identification of trends in performance and compliance. You'll help transform complex environmental data into meaningful insights that support regulatory compliance and business decision-making
- work to a quality management system and support the Flow Compliance Adviser to ensure that policies and procedures are followed and updated as required
- support the team to develop and enhance current reporting processes and software, to deliver high-quality and accurate outputs whilst improving efficiency.
- A degree-level qualification in a STEM-related subject, or a minimum of one year's experience in the water industry or a data analysis and reporting role.
- Strong computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint Online and analytical reporting tools such as Power BI, with the ability to develop dashboards, monitor performance and communicate insights effectively.
- Experience managing and analysing large datasets, with the ability to investigate issues, identify trends and produce accurate reporting. Experience handling environmental compliance data would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to colleagues, the wider business and external stakeholders, including regulators.
- To be self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and water industry activities is advantageous. Experience using Esri GIS software or operational systems such as ScopeX or Prism would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
