We're currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Supervisor to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a programme of highways and infrastructure works across the South West.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term freelance contract, with an initial highways scheme commencing in early September and a clear pipeline of work extending into next summer. There may also be opportunities to support additional infrastructure and maintenance projects as the programme expands.
The RoleYou'll be working as part of an experienced delivery team alongside a Site Agent and Site Engineer, overseeing site activities and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of highways improvement works.
Typical works include- Highway widening and realignment
- Footway construction and widening
- Pedestrian crossing installations
- Bus stop improvements
- General highways and infrastructure works
- Supervising direct labour, subcontractors and site activities
- Ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with the programme
- Coordinating daily site operations and allocating resources
- Delivering site briefings, toolbox talks and inductions
- Monitoring health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Liaising with the Site Agent, Site Engineer and subcontractors
- Maintaining accurate site records and daily reports
- Supporting the management of materials, plant and deliveries
- Identifying and reporting site issues, delays and risks
- Previous experience as a Site Supervisor on highways or civil engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of site health and safety requirements
- Experience supervising direct labour and subcontractors
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification
- CSCS Card
- First Aid qualification preferred
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work across multiple schemes when required
