Consultant Endocrinologist

Job Summary

We are looking for a Consultant Endocrinologist to join our dynamic team at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. This full‑time (10 PA) consultant position is a replacement post with a negotiable working pattern if needed.

• Provide outpatient diabetes and endocrine clinics, foot clinics, and transitional services.
• Deliver community diabetes clinics at local hospitals and GP practices, including virtual appointments via MS Teams.
• Cover a 28‑bed diabetes ward and occasional medical outliers, with a 1‑week block every 6 weeks.
• Carry out GIM on‑call duties (1 in 24 in category
  
  B) and evening ward rounds; on‑call duties include telephone advice 8 pm–8 am.
• Supervise and educate junior doctors, foundation and IMT staff.
• Assist in service development and quality improvement projects.

• MBBS or equivalent.
• Specialist accreditation or CSST, or equivalent in DM and Endocrinology, and General Internal Medicine.
• UK CCT in Diabetes and Endocrinology (or within 6 months of achieving CCT).
• Minimum 3 years at Specialist Registrar/Senior Registrar grade with experience in major diabetes/endocrinology subspecialties.
• Evidence of teaching and supervision of foundation and IMT doctors.
• Ability to motivate and develop junior medical staff.
• Experience in clinical leadership roles, service development, and providing expert clinical opinion for unselected emergency GIM admissions.

Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 a year.
