We are inviting applications for a permanent Specialist Doctor role within Dermatology. The successful candidate will work at a senior level of responsibility within the Department of Dermatology, which is part of the Medicine Division. Shifts can be worked flexibly in agreement with the Dermatology Rota Manager.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe role includes clinical and managerial responsibilities designed to enhance and expand existing services. Key duties are:
- Provide expert clinical care across the full spectrum of dermatological conditions, including emergency and elective cases.
- Offer clinical opinions and manage complex cases, applying sound judgement and prioritising patient safety.
- Lead and supervise junior staff and residents, contributing to training and professional development.
- Participate in audit, quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
- Engage in research activities and teaching, including supervision of students and postgraduates.
- Demonstrate effective communication, problem solving and leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
– Essential Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Meet the Specialist Grade Generic Capabilities Framework.
- Knowledge of own limitations and ability to work independently when appropriate.
- Strong clinical judgement, prioritisation, and risk minimisation skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) and ability to build rapport.
- Organisational and planning skills, including effective time‑management.
- Experience in clinical governance, audit and evidence‑based practice.
- ALS, APLS and/or ATLS or equivalent certification.
- Holder of FFICM by examination.
- Experience in palliative care for critically unwell patients.
- Advanced communication and teaching skills.
- Academic research achievements, publications, and audit involvement.
- Evidence of effective leadership within and outside medicine.
